When our founder, Amanda O’Neill, was approached by the BBC about taking part in a new television series “Going Back, Giving Back” she wasn’t sure if it was something she could do. The documentary explores the personal history of individuals who have been through challenging circumstances to see how they can positively impact the lives of others. Amanda states “It meant baring my soul on national television. Opening up about my cancer experience and the difficulties I’ve been through (but overcome) over the past few years. It involved discussing on camera aspects of my life that I have kept private from some of my closest friends. It wasn’t something I could easily do. But I decided I would do it in the hope that being honest and open about my experiences, I could potentially help others facing difficult situations, and also raise awareness of an amazing charity very close to my heart, the Breast Cancer Haven. This really wasn’t easy for me and I’m still not sure how I feel about sharing my story with the country but if it helps just one person, then it will be worthwhile.”
So here it is, Amanda and Aled Jones in episode 13 of “Going Back Giving Back”. It doesn’t get much more personal than this! For anyone watching this whilst going through difficult times, “never, never, never give up”.
